White Lung, Morrissey, Jenny Lewis and More Fill Exclaim!'s Summer Issue
Published Jul 02, 2014Another month means another print issue of Exclaim! Magazine, filled with interviews, reviews and more to tickle your music fancy. Our print issue is perfect for poring over at the beach, with a beer on a patio or any other time you want extensive music coverage on ink and paper. Snag an issue from the closest street box, your favourite venue or the local bar to see what artists and albums we can't stop talking about.
Our Summer Issue's cover stars are none other than Vancouver punks White Lung. In our cover feature, you can track the incendiary four-piece from their DIY roots along their path to becoming a staple of the Canadian punk scene, with plenty of roadblocks and blessings along the way.
The perpetually miserable Morrissey is the subject of this month's Timeline. Most know Moz as the melancholy frontman of the Smiths, and as a controversial pot-stirrer, but in our Timeline you can examine every stage of his life, from birth, to the breakup of the Smiths, to his valiant defence of helpless Canadian seals and his newest solo album.
We caught up with Jenny Lewis for the Summer Issue's Questionnaire. She generously answered our bill of questions, and she filled us in on getting sick on tour, working as a child actress with Lucille Ball and the dirty little secret that she shares with Jennifer Lopez. Pick up your copy to read all of Lewis' answers.
Get taught by Adrian X in our Music School section. He told us all about the gear he uses on his solo music and his high-profile work with Kylie Minogue, Drake, the Weeknd and others.
This issue is filled with tons of other interviews. We spoke with Scandinavian pop dream team Röyksopp and Robyn, who detailed their extensive collaboration and played coy about releasing more music together in the future. The unique stylings of non-traditional Inuit throat singer Tanya Tagaq and the gritty garage-born rock of Toronto act Greys also grace the pages of this issue, but you'll have to pick one up to thumb through these features.
You'll also find more album reviews and interviews from artists like Soft Pink Truth, Monomyth, Ab-Soul and How to Dress Well.
You'll find everything above and lots, lots more in Exclaim!'s Summer Issue. Head to a coffee shop or street box near you to get your hands on a copy.
