The Wallflowers Announce First Album in 9 Years
Jakob Dylan may not have released as many records as his infamous father, but he has certainly released a solid string of alt-rock bangers as the frontman for the Wallflowers. And there are more in store, as he's announced the first new album from the band in nine years.

The release is called Exit Wounds and follows the band's 2012 LP Glad All Over. There was also a Dylan solo album called Echo in the Canyon released in 2019, but Exit Wounds is significant in that it marks the return of the band.

"The Wallflowers is much of my life's work," Dylan said in a press release.

Thematically, the album is about the strange times we're living in.

"I think everybody — no matter what side of the aisle you're on — wherever we're going to next, we're all taking a lot of exit wounds with us," he added. "Nobody is the same as they were four years ago. That, to me, is what Exit Wounds signifies. And it's not meant to be negative at all. It just means that wherever you're headed, even if it's to a better place, you leave people and things behind, and you think about those people and those things and you carry them with you. Those are your exit wounds. And right now, we're swimming in them."

Exit Wounds will arrive in full on July 9 via New West. But first, Dylan and his band debuted the album's "Roots and Wings" on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which you can watch below
