Montreal's the Franklin Electric Explore Universal Truths on 'In Your Head' EP: Stream Now
Montreal alt-folk group's new EP is out via Nettwerk Music Group
Published Aug 02, 2019Having netted a Juno nomination for Breakthrough Group of the Year in 2018, Montreal alt-folk act the Franklin Electric are keeping the momentum going. Their In Your Head EP arrives today via Nettwerk Records, and it's available to stream in full.
The EP takes a genre-crossing approach to folk rock. "Made It Up in Your Head" is warm and earthy, but with chugging electric guitars and surging rhythms that hint at new wave, while "I've Been Here Before" is a finger-picked acoustic ballad that unexpectedly builds to a hip-hop groove.
"The theme of the EP is the balance between vulnerability and holding on," frontman Jon Matte explained in a statement. "You can't be so openminded you never stand up for anything. This theme sets the stage for a beautiful realization to happen. I just make honest music for everyday ordinary people. This is what I'm feeling and going through. This is how I explore universal truths we all go through. I always want the art to reflect what's going on with me."
The Franklin Electric will support In Your Head with fall tour dates in Europe and Quebec. See the schedule below, and scroll past that to hear the EP.
