Grant Lawrence to Pen Memoir About the Smugglers
Last year, Canadian indie music scene staple Grant Lawrence made his mark upon the literary world with his wildly entertaining memoir Adventures in Solitude. The success of that tome has now landed the CBC Radio 3 host a deal to release two books, one of which will detail his time as the frontman of the Smugglers.

The book deal is with Douglas & McIntyre Publishers Inc., who will release Lawrence's memoir about the Smugglers in spring 2013. This book will tell of his time touring the world with the Mint Records punk band, years which were almost entirely omitted from Adventures in Solitude.

The book promises to be a historical rock travelogue of sorts, as a press release notes, "Grant obsessed over many great rock'n'roll sites, from Graceland in Memphis, to the Cavern Club in Liverpool, to the site of Buddy Holly's plane crash in an Iowa corn field."

This book will be followed by another memoir in fall 2014, this one about his relationship towards hockey and his time as "an amateur, gimpy, championship-winning goaltender."

Of the new book deal, Lawrence said in a statement, "I'm extremely excited about joining the Douglas & McIntyre team. They're celebrating their 40th year as a publisher, and I'm celebrating my 40th year as a human being. I'm also a huge fan of many of the books D+M have published over the years."
