Ken Jennings Declared "Greatest of All Time" on 'Jeopardy!'
The trivia celebrity came away from the past week's special primetime competition as the winner, taking home $1 million USD.
Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time premiered last week, pitting former champions James Holzhauer, Brad Rutter and Jennings against each other in a battle of the best.
The rules stated that the first player to win three games would be declared winner, and Jennings achieved that after just four episodes.
Jennings borrowed from Holzhauer during the latest tournament, often going "all in" on Daily Doubles — a move that paid off well for him.
Jennings was particularly gracious to his competitors (after a week of nerd smack-talk), praising Holzhauer as "a player so dominant that, when he took on the strongest players ever in his sport, they both had to adopt his exact style of play just to contain him."
He also had kind words for Rutter, acknowledging that he has some "tough breaks" this time around, but that having previously defeated Kennings in three other tournament finals, he "really had the only credible claim as the Jeopardy GOAT."
@bradrutter got some tough breaks in this tourney, but real Jeopardy-heads know him as the guy who beat me in three straight tournament finals. For over a decade, he's really had the only credible claim as the Jeopardy GOAT.— Ken Jennings (@KenJennings) January 15, 2020
Nevertheless, Jennings seems to be settling in to his new title, promising to be "the people's champ."

Even his fellow competitors wished him well. See Holzhauer and Rutter's messages of congratulations below.
Thanks to @KenJennings and @bradrutter for a hell of a match. Ken and Brad are great @Jeopardy players but even better people, and have been incredibly good sports about my kayfabe feuding and trash talk.— GOAT Fodder (@James_Holzhauer) January 15, 2020
Huge congrats to my old frenemy @KenJennings on his most impressive #JeopardyGOAT victory. That was the best playing I've ever seen and I've been watching @Jeopardy for 35 years.
