Published Oct 28, 2019Recording artist and viral tweet composer Mina Lioness has opened up about her involvement with the massive Lizzo hit "Truth Hurts."
In an interview with The Fader, Lioness spoke about the controversy she's been embroiled in since she first composed the tweet — the one that reads "I just did a DNA test and found out I'm 100% that bitch" — which supposedly inspired Lizzo to write "Truth Hurts" back in 2017.
Apparently, Lioness has been in contact with Lizzo's team about her finally receiving credit for the song.
"All communications I've had with her team have been pleasant," she told The Fader. "The things I've been told that she has said about me have just been endearing. I was never, ever made to feel uncomfortable in the situation."
Earlier this month, Songwriters and producers Justin and Jeremiah Raisen accused Lizzo of stealing melodies, lyrics and chords on "Truth Hurts"— including that iconic opening line. Lizzo later filed a lawsuit against the Raisens, and later tweeted, "The creator of the tweet is the person I am sharing my success with… not these men. Period."

Aside from being a popular Twitter user, Lioness has been recording her own music. Now that her sights are set high, she has a lot of work ahead of her. "I know that my next step with music has to now outdo a tweet that Hillary Clinton quoted."
