Published Feb 15, 2011While Mick Harvey is well-known as of both a member of the Birthday Party and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, not to mention his recent production work for PJ Harvey, the musician has, on occasion, made some records of his own. Well, Harvey is ready to once again step into the spotlight with a new solo album.
The musician's next record, titled Sketches From the Book of the Dead, will be released May 2 in the UK and May 3 in North America. It is his first album since 2007's Two of Diamonds. What's markedly different about this latest collection is that it will be the first record written entirely by Harvey.
The 11-song set was recorded and mixed with David McCluney at Atlantis Sound in Port Melbourne and features contributions from double-bass player Rosie Westbrook, accordionist/violinist J.P. Shilo and vocalist Xanthe Waite.
A tracklisting and cover have yet to pop up for the record, and it's unclear at this point which label will be handling the release.
