Published Jul 26, 2016Celebrating another year in the biz, Toronto beat trio Keys N Krates have announced the second annual instalment of their Birthday Party festival.
Birthday Party 2016 will take place at Toronto's Sunnyside Pavilion on August 28. On top of a headlining set from Keys N Krates, the event will host performances from rapper Mannie Fresh, Montreal beat twister Lunice, MPC master AraabMuzik, rising R&B project River Tiber, CLN and BEVSTMODE.
According to the marquee artists, they want to up the absurdity of last year's inaugural event, an all-day outdoor party that featured onstage performances from artists like Just Blaze and an audience quite legitimately filled with clowns.
"Building on the Birthday Party concept from last year, we wanted to further develop our own curated festival with a lineup of artists that we are true fans of; and of course more ridiculous Birthday party antics," Keys N Krates explained in a group statement. "The vibe will be fun, slightly absurd, and non-pretentious. We really hope Mannie plays 'Go DJ' five times, because we wouldn't have it any other way."
To get an idea of what the Birthday Festival is like, a highlight reel from the 2015 edition shows some wild concert footage, while also showcasing the all-day event's Barney the Dinosaur-dunking midway booths, cotton candy stands and other assorted scenes of costumed chaos. Tickets to Birthday Party 2016 are $20, plus service charges. You can find out more about the event over here.
