Published Jan 15, 2016The teased collaborative LP from Mark Kozelek's Sun Kil Moon and Justin Broadrick's Jesu is something we've been anticipating for months. Finally, after a long wait, the album is finally available to stream in full.
The album's simply called Jesu/Sun Kil Moon, but the collaboration doesn't end with those two artists. Instead, the album also includes appearances from Isaac Brock, Will Oldham, Slowdive's Rachel Goswell and members of Low, among others.
If you'd like to stream the album, you can give the whole thing a spin here.
To promote the LP further, Mark Kozelek was interviewed by Rainn Wilson (a.k.a. Dwight from The Office) on his website. The two discuss a great deal of topics, including David Bowie, Modest Mouse and Kozelek's budding acting career. Kozelek also described how he and Broadrick first joined forces:
Justin and I met through a mutual friend named Zak Sally, formerly of Low. Justin invited me to see his band Jesu play, with Isis (the band!) at Bimbo's in San Francisco in 2004, I believe. I loved his show and offered him a record deal, released two Jesu albums on my label, Caldo Verde. We're about two years apart in age, we've both been in music for well over two decades, I love the music that he makes, and he cranks out music fast. We work well together, work at the same pace.
Once you've finished streaming it online, you'll be able to grab a copy of Jesu/Sun Kil Moon on CD or as a digital download beginning on January 22 via Caldo Verde. A vinyl release of the album has been delayed, though that's on the way too.
