Published Dec 14, 2015Half Moon Run released their latest LP Sun Leads Me On earlier this fall, and the Montreal unit have now unveiled a music video for "I Can't Figure Out What's Going On" from that same album.
The clip opens on the melodic indie rock four-piece performing in a cozy living room that's been decorated with elaborately framed portraits, a grandfather clock and florally-upholstered furniture. The camera then pans around the rest of the vintage home, showing scenes in which a goose gets saved from becoming dinner and owls overlook the accompanying string section. There's even a gorilla rocking out to the song's climactic guitar solo.
The clip was directed by Heston L'Abbé. "The band came to me with ideas about psychedelia/the fluidity of space and time, and I've always been a fan of the Surrealists and how they work in the subconscious dream space — manipulating symbols and archetypes to imbue chaos with meaning," he said in a statement, explaining the concept behind the video.
