Published Nov 04, 2020After a long, tragic year of economic uncertainty, civil unrest and infectious disease run rampant, Gwyneth Paltrow is here to ease your sorrows with a line of overly priced "wellness" goods for the holiday season.
Earlier this week, Paltrow's Goop Holiday Gift Guide launched its annual holiday selection of zany, expensive merchandise. This year the list is just as wild as ever, featuring luxury goods like radiation-blocking boxers, a leather watermelon-holding bag, "calming" pubic hair oil, a "wellness tracking" ring, a robot sidekick (for that special guy in your life), numerous charcuterie boards, and of course, vagina candles.
As if the standard list wasn't kooky enough, Goop has also posted a separate Ridiculous but Awesome Gift Guide, including a number of even pricier wares. That list features a $4,425 USD Hermès skateboard, something described as "carbon negative vodka," a vulva colouring book, a $2,000 USD ouija board and a bread lamp.
The website says that this year's list was curated "to meet the needs of today: less travel and more snacks, self-care, and booze. And yes, puzzles galore."
"Need" — probably not. But if the success of Netflix's The Goop Lab — recently renewed for Season 2 — is anything to go on, it is possible people do actually want to buy this stuff.
Check out the full guide here, but maybe don't give these people any more money than they already have.
